Garth Hill
Head Coach and Owner
Garth is the Head Coach and owner of CrossFit Hibiscus Coast. Garth is an experienced CrossFit athlete and Coach who has been doing CrossFit for over 12 years now and has competed at the highest of competitions in the sport, nationally and regionally.
Garth started his CrossFit journey with CrossFit Auckland in 2010, prior to moving up to CrossFit Hibiscus Coast in 2014 and then taking over CrossFit Hibiscus Coast in 2020.
Garth has competed at CrossFit Regionals in 2011 and 2013. Garth holds his Level 2 Certificate in CrossFit along with both a Diploma in Sporting Performance and a Certificate in Personal Training (Level 3) from the Sports Institute of Otago.
John Taurua
Part Time Trainer
John is a full time Fire Fighter by trade and a part time Coach of CrossFit Hibiscus Coast. He has always had a passion for all areas of sports and fitness. John started CrossFitting in 2011 in Afghanistan with a bunch of Americans and has never looked back. John has competed at the highest level of CrossFit in New Zealand and has a true passion for this style of training.
John holds his Level 3 Certificate in Fitness Consultancy, CrossFit Level 2 Certificate, CrossFit Level One Certificate, CrossFit Gymnastics Certificate, CrossFit Football Certificate, CrossFit Strongman Certificate, CrossFit Scaling Certificate, Certificate in Therapeutic and Sports massage.
Quanita Taurua
Part Time Trainer
Quanita is one of CrossFit Hibiscus Coasts most experienced part time coaches. Quanita has been a CrossFit Athlete and Coach for over 10 years and has competed at a very high level in CrossFit, recently placing top 50 in the world in her age division in the sport!
She is a very experienced CrossFit Coach and is always looking to grow herself and her athletes. Quanita holds her Level One Certificate in CrossFit and her CrossFit Kids Trainer Certificate. She is also one of the fittest school teachers you’ll find on the coast!!!
Matt Bridge
Part Time Trainer
Matty is a full time Fire Fighter by trade & a Part Time Trainer at CrossFit Hibiscus Coast. He has been a member with us for approximately 5 years and has been CrossFitting for this amount of time as well. Matty picked up many of the fundamentals of CrossFit really quickly.
He has come from an active background playing Rugby and Rugby League. He has a passion for Strongman holding numerous regionals titles and records. Reasonably quiet by nature, Matty has a follow me and I will show you style who is keen to help anyone and everyone in the community. Matty holds his Level One Certificate in CrossFit.
Danielle Halliday
Part Time Trainer
Dani is no stranger to exercise and movement but only discovered CrossFit five years ago at CrossFit Hibiscus Coast. A former Sergeant in the Royal Air Force (UK) for 11 years, she moved to New Zealand in 2010 where she worked in the sport industry for 10 years and, more recently has had a total career change and is now running a Funeral Home on the North Shore.
Dani loves coaching and being with our amazing CrossFit community, where every person can achieve amazing things with their body. “I am a huge believer in the benefits of exercise for your mind and body and want to help everyone feel as great as I do!”
Jen Kinsella
Part Time Trainer
Jen is one of the part time coach’s at CFHC. She has been a CrossFit athlete for seven years and has been coaching for 3 years.
Jen has newly started competing in the masters division age 45-50 age group, recently winning the NZ Nationals Title and also placing 19th in the world in the CrossFit open for this age division as well.
As a mum of three Jen has experienced training through both pregnancy and postpartum recovery. She has a passion for helping women enjoy the challenge of CrossFit and the confidence it brings.
Jen holds her level one certificate in CrossFit, Level one weightlifting qualification and CrossFit gymnastics qualification.
